DAY 2: Saturday, 21st July 2018
“Bringing yesterday’s magic. Preparing today’s history.”
Day 2 is here. I am so excited. As I had an impression from the day before that I have not enough time to explore everything, I arrive to the festival at the opening hour. At the entrance I receive area map and special Tomorrowland newspaper “Tomorrowland Today”. The DJs I want to check out today will be playing in the evening. So, my plan for the first half of the day is clear: explore the most possible and enjoy the moment.
I decide to walk around. The festival area is huge and well situated. It is a big park with lake and many green places. If you want to get some rest between the music performances, you can be sure that you will find what you are looking for and will never get bored. You can grab something to eat in the food area, shop in unique stores, make your own flower headband, walk through bridges across the lake, lay down on a blanket by the water and relax or enjoy the ride on the Ferris Wheel (for free!) guaranteeing you the best views over the festival. Toilets are clean and next to them you can also find refreshment points offering deo-sprays or hair gels for you to use it for free.
First of all, I visit every single music stage. There are 17 stages. Every stage is different not only because of its design but also because of music played. You can choose music from all genres styles of electronic music. The variety of design and location of every stage creates a unique atmosphere.
You can find stage situated in a forest, in a cave, on sand, in the middle of the lake, stage with a huge moving dragon or carousel in the background, stage designed as a house of masks where you can enjoy black light party, and many more. There is even a small stage next to the toilets entertaining you while waiting in a line. I am impressed with all the details that I just want to sit down and admire the originality and magic.
While exploring all the stages, I am passing food area and the great smell gets me hungry. It is time to taste some food. I am little bit scared, because as you probably know, festivals usually offer overpriced food of low quality. Here you can choose if you go to eat to the restaurants offering food from the best chefs or to the street stands with international food. I decide for the street food. It is fast and no reservation is needed. I am surprised - it is delicious! I start to crave to taste more and end up trying different food with the same satisfaction.
What I notice during my walk around is that Tomorrowland is not only a music festival but also a lifestyle. There are shops selling everything from t-shirts, caps to jewelry and phone cases, everything branded with Tomorrowland logo. People covered in Tomorrowland flags are seen everywhere. Tattoo shops making permanent tattoo with Tomorrowland motive are fully booked for all the festival.
After the sunset everything changes and increases its magic. Everything is illuminated (not only stages and all the design around but also some people). Walking around at night is totally different. Even if you have walked across the festival many times during the day, walking the same path at night is a unique experience and you feel like you are passing the place for the first time. I feel like being in a magical kingdom. Everything is crowned by magnificent fireworks during the sound of music from the best DJs such as Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.
